STEPHANIE SARAZIN is a grief educator, writer, and award-winning author. Amidst unexpected life changes, motivated by a deep desire to understand how to grieve the living, Stephanie became an accidental grief researcher. Her findings informed her first book, Soulbroken: A Guidebook for Your Journey Through Ambiguous Grief (Balance 2022), which won the Nautilus Book Award Gold seal. Now a grief literacy advocate and a leading voice in the grief and loss space, Stephanie is a frequent panelist, moderator, and podcast guest. A long-time practitioner of rituals, she is the author of Rituals for Loss (Sourcebooks, 2026), and her work has been featured in various publications, including Newsweek, HuffPost, People, Psychology Today, Spirituality & Health Magazine, The Sunday Paper, and more.
An active member of several communities, she was named a Luminary Thinker by Cartier and an Architect of Change by Maria Shriver’s The Sunday Paper, and serves on the Board of A Place At The Table near her home in Raleigh, NC. A mom of three young adults, Stephanie’s education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. In November 2024, she celebrated her new empty-nester status with a regenerating ritual – trekking to Mt. Everest Base Camp. When she’s not researching rituals, Stephanie can be found with a strong cup of coffee or hiking new trails with her partner.
