DEBRA BOKUR is the author of THE DARK PARADISE MYSTERIES series, which includes THE FIRE THIEF (2020), THE BONE FIELD (2021) and THE LAVA WITCH (2022). Debra has spent decades traveling the world as a writer, filmmaker, and journalist for national media outlets, and has won multiple awards, including two Lowell Thomas Awards for Travel Journalism.
While working as the Travel Editor for a national health and wellness magazine, Debra was sent to Hawaii to produce a series of features exploring the rich cultural traditions associated with island lore. Over the course of seven years, she worked with spiritual leaders, attended healing ceremonies, picked herbs on mountainsides, and learned many of the oral traditions, all of which inspired her novels.
Debra also utilizes her theater degree as a book narrator and voice actor for Audible. She divides her time between writing spaces in the mountains of Colorado and coastal Maine, where she enjoys hiking with her husband, drawing, photography, gardening and spending quality time at her desk being supervised by two opinionated cats. In her spare time, she’s busy renovating a 160-year old (possibly) haunted inn.
